Kashmira Shah (also known as Kashmera Shah) is an Indian actress, model, dancer, and filmmaker known for her work in Hindi and Marathi cinema as well as television and reality shows. Born on 2 December 1972 in Mumbai (then Bombay), Maharashtra, she comes from a mixed Maharashtrian and Gujarati family and is the granddaughter of noted Hindustani classical singer Anjanibai Lolekar. Standing at 5 feet 7 inches (1.70 m), she began her career as a model and beauty pageant winner before transitioning into films and television.

Early Life and Modeling Career

Kashmira Shah was raised in Mumbai. She studied at Princess High School and later attended Jai Hind College. She started modeling at the age of 16 and by her early twenties had established herself in the industry. In 1993 she won the Miss University World title associated with her college and represented India at an international pageant in South Korea, where she also secured the Miss Talent award. These early achievements brought her visibility and opened doors in the entertainment world.

Film Career

Kashmira Shah made her Hindi film debut in 1997 with the role of Sheela Chaudhary in Aziz Mirza’s romantic comedy Yes Boss opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. She gained further recognition for her supporting role as Bali in Ram Gopal Varma’s Jungle (2000), which earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination. She became particularly known for her energetic item numbers and dance performances, including the song “Jawani Se” in Vaastav: The Reality (1999) and “Chalka Chalka” in Aankhen (2002).

Other notable film appearances include Hera Pheri (2000), Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye (2000), Janasheen (2003), Murder (2004 – guest appearance as a lounge singer), Wake Up Sid (2009), Revati (2005 – lead role), and My Bollywood Bride (also known as My Faraway Bride, 2006/2007), in which she played the lead role of Reena and co-wrote the screenplay. She has also worked in Marathi cinema, including Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha (2012), Aawhan (2015), Shikari (2018), and Nay Varan Bhat Loncha Kon Nai Koncha (2022) as Supriya.

In 2019 Kashmira Shah made her directorial debut with the comedy-drama Marne Bhi Do Yaaron (also spelled Marrne Bhi Do Yaaron), which she also produced and starred in alongside her husband Krushna Abhishek.

Television and Reality Shows

Kashmira Shah began her on-screen journey on television with the role of Mona Darling in Hello Bollywood (1994). She later appeared in shows such as Private Detective: Two Plus Two Plus One (1997) and Siya Ke Ram (2015–2016), where she played the demoness Tadaka.

She became a familiar face on reality television after participating in the first season of Bigg Boss in 2006. She was a contestant on Nach Baliye 3 (2007) with Krushna Abhishek, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 4 (2011), and has appeared as a guest or challenger in later seasons of Bigg Boss. More recently she has been seen on Laughter Chefs – Unlimited Entertainment (2024 onwards) with her husband.

Personal Life

Kashmira Shah was first married to Hollywood producer Brad Listermann from 2001/2002 until their divorce in 2007. She later began a relationship with actor and comedian Krushna Abhishek (nephew of Govinda). The couple married in Las Vegas in 2012/2013 and have twin sons, Rayaan and Krishaang, born in 2017 via surrogacy. She holds dual connections to India and the United States and has maintained residences in both Mumbai and Los Angeles at different points in her career.
