Shreya Dhanwanthary is an Indian actress, model, author and occasional director who works primarily in Hindi films and web series, with earlier credits in Telugu cinema. Born on 29 August 1988 in Hyderabad, she is best known for her critically acclaimed performances as journalist Sucheta Dalal in Scam 1992 and as Zoya in the Amazon Prime Video series The Family Man.
Early Life and Education
Shreya Dhanwanthary was born in Hyderabad to a Telugu-speaking mother and a Hindi-speaking father. When she was just two months old, her family moved to Dubai, where she spent a significant part of her childhood. She was later raised between the Middle East and Delhi. She completed her engineering degree in Electronics and Communication from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal. Before fully entering the entertainment industry, she participated in beauty pageants and finished as the 1st Runner-up at Pantaloons Femina Miss India South 2008 and reached the finals of Miss India 2008.
Career Beginnings
Shreya began her acting career in Telugu cinema with the film Josh (2009), followed by the lead role in Sneha Geetham (2010). After a gap during which she appeared in numerous commercials for brands such as Fastrack, Samsung, Safi, Vogue Eyewear and D’damas, she made her Hindi film debut with Why Cheat India (2019) opposite Emraan Hashmi, playing the character of Nupur Dubey.
Breakthrough with Web Series
Her major breakthrough came with the Amazon Prime Video thriller series The Family Man (2019–present), in which she played the role of Zoya. The series brought her widespread recognition. In 2020, she delivered one of her most celebrated performances as the investigative journalist Sucheta Dalal in the Sony LIV biographical drama Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. The role earned her critical praise and several awards, including recognition at the Hit List OTT Awards and Indian Film and Television Awards.

Key credits include Looop Lapeta (2022) as Julia, Chup: Revenge of the Artist (2022) as Nila Menon, Mumbai Diaries 26/11 (2021–2023) as Mansi Hirani, Guns & Gulaabs (2023) as Yamini, Adbhut (2024) as Dr. Shruthi Rawat, and The Great Shamsuddin Family (2025) as Iram Ahmed. She has also worked on short films and independent projects such as The Girl in Me, Birth, and A Viral Wedding (which she wrote, directed and produced).

Apart from acting, Shreya Dhanwanthary is also an author. She published her debut novel Fade to White in 2016. She has explored writing and directing through short-form digital content and continues to take on diverse roles across streaming platforms and cinema.
